PROPOSED RELEASE // SINGLE 12-INCH LP

AVAILABLE GROOVE // INSUFFICIENT
The archive attempted to accommodate the submitted programme on a conventional two-sided LP.
Side A reached the label. Side B entered the run-out groove and showed no meaningful intention of stopping.
IT DOES NOT FIT.
The mastering engineer has reviewed the material and would like everybody to stop saying “can’t you just squeeze it on?”

MASTERING ENGINEER’S NOTE
Yes, technically we could cut the grooves closer together.
We could also reduce the level, compromise the low end, make everything sound progressively worse towards the centre and pretend this was an artistic decision.
We will not be doing that.

The archive recommends a double LP.
Marketing has already suggested a deluxe gatefold edition, which is how these things get out of hand.
